Garden of Beasts is Jeffery Deaver's first historical thriller, and it earned him the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger Award from the Crime Writers Association of Great Britain. Set in Berlin in 1936, Garden of Beasts has a large cast of characters, including historical personages such as Hitler and Jesse Owens. Although the book is a departure from his other work, it is still filled with Deaver's customary twists and turns.
